Michael Renner-Lewis, “Mr. Mike,” is a Microsoft Certified Professional with more than twenty years of experience as an IT Consultant for numerous companies/corporations, including General Motors, Pfizer, and Sparrow Health Systems Hospital.  His drive and passion for computers began when he was a boy and was studying at Woodhouse Grove School in Leeds, England. With the assistance and encouragement of his dad, the late Michael Renner-Lewis, Michael continued to research and explore the field of technology which led him to a career that would open doors for many who would come behind him.

Elois Renner-Lewis, “Ms. Lois”, is a retired teacher from Kalamazoo Public Schools with an MA in Literacy Education (middle school emphasis) and BA in Elementary Education with a major in English Language Arts.  Her drive and passion for teaching and learning began when she was a child and her parents, the late Halford and Armenta Rodgers, would construct a makeshift bus in their living room where she and her siblings played “school” and reading would be the main subject. 

With over 35 years of experience, Ms. Lois enjoys teaching and mentoring young people as they explore the many choices available to them as adults.

These skills led the couple to utilize a combination of their professional expertise and form MILO (MIke and LOis) Coding Academy at WMU Computer Science and Engineering Department which aims to close the gap that exists among the underrepresented youth in the technology industry. 

Just as important, Mr. Mike and Ms. Lois have enjoyed volunteering teaching computer courses for a combined 15 years at WMU Multicultural Department, Hillside Middle School, New Genesis Learning Center, and Northside Association for Community Development. Additionally, they have enjoyed fellowshipping at Stones Church for 30 years.
